Pre-Order the First-Ever Vinyl Pressing
Nearly two decades after its original release, Nerf Herder’s acclaimed reunion album IV is finally getting the vinyl treatment fans have been waiting for. On August 14, Oglio Entertainment will release the album’s first-ever LP pressing, giving listeners the opportunity to experience one of the band’s most beloved releases on vinyl for the very first time.
Originally released on CD through Oglio Records in 2008, IV marked the return of Nerf Herder’s classic lineup: Parry Gripp, Charlie Dennis, and Steve Sherlock. Rather than simply revisiting past successes, the trio reunited with renewed energy and delivered an album that showcased everything fans loved about the band—infectious melodies, crunchy pop-punk riffs, sharp humor, and unforgettable songwriting.
The album features fan-favorite tracks including “Oh Me, Oh My,” “Golfshirt Pt. 2,” “High School Reunion,” “Led Zeppelin Rules,” and “The Backpack Song,” highlighting the band’s unique ability to blend heartfelt moments with witty, offbeat observations and undeniable hooks.
Long before “nerd rock” became a widely recognized genre, Nerf Herder helped define it. Their breakthrough 1996 single “Van Halen” became a modern rock radio staple, while the band’s profile expanded even further when they created the iconic theme song for Buffy the Vampire Slayer—a television theme that remains instantly recognizable to fans more than 25 years later.
Throughout their career, Nerf Herder has earned a devoted following by balancing humor and sincerity without sacrificing strong songwriting. Their music has always been catchy, clever, and refreshingly self-aware.
While frontman Parry Gripp has since become a household name on the internet thanks to his wildly successful catalog of family-friendly viral songs, IV serves as a reminder of the band that first established his songwriting reputation. The album captures Nerf Herder at full strength—confident, creative, and still delivering the perfect combination of punk attitude and pop craftsmanship.
Mastered at Colorado’s legendary Blasting Room, IV has long been praised for its powerful, punchy sound. This new vinyl edition finally gives the record the analog presentation it deserves.
The release is pressed on emerald green vinyl and includes a printed inner sleeve featuring complete song lyrics. For collectors and longtime fans, it represents one of the final missing pieces in the Nerf Herder catalog. Signed copies are also available while supplies last, making this historic first pressing an essential addition to any collection.
Reflecting on the release, drummer Steve Sherlock shared his excitement: “Oh me, oh my! I never thought we’d see the day when our weird little 2008 comeback record actually made it onto a real, spinning piece of green vinyl. Our fans have been asking, and it’s finally happening!”
For longtime listeners, the release fills a longstanding gap in the band’s discography. For newer fans discovering Nerf Herder through Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Parry Gripp’s later work, or a love of hook-filled pop-punk, IV remains one of the best introductions to a band whose blend of melody, humor, and originality remains unmatched.
Funny without becoming a novelty act, catchy without losing its punk-rock spirit, and endlessly replayable, IV stands as one of the hidden gems of 2000s pop-punk. Seventeen years after its original release, it’s finally arriving in the format fans have been requesting all along.
