Cardinals Announced 2026 Opening Day Roster

CARDINALS ANNOUNCE 2026 OPENING DAY ROSTER

18 PLAYERS DEVELOPED WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION; SEVEN 1^ST-TIME CARDINALS

ST. LOUIS, MO., March 25, 2026 – The St. Louis Cardinals will begin their 135th season of play in the National League tomorrow (March 26) when they host the Tampa Bay Rays at 3:15 p.m. CDT in the season opening game of the 162-game Major League Baseball regular season. 

The team announced this morning that rookie infielder JJ Wetherholt had his contract selected from Memphis (AAA).  In addition, outfielder Lars Nootbaar (bilateral Haglund’s Deformity excision) was placed on the 60-day Injured List and right-handed pitcher Hunter Dobbins (right knee ACL reconstruction-rehab) was placed on the 15-day Injured list, retroactive to March 22.

The team’s 26-player active roster includes seven first-time Cardinals and 18 players who were developed within the Cardinals organization. 

The following is the Cardinals 2026 Opening Day active roster and injured list:

PITCHERS (13): Justin Bruihl – LHP, Kyle Leahy – RHP, Matthew Liberatore – LHP, Dustin May – RHP, Michael McGreevy – RHP, Riley O’Brien – RHP, Andre Pallante – RHP, Matt Pushard – RHP, JoJo Romero – LHP, Chris Roycroft – RHP, George Soriano – RHP, Ryne Stanek – RHP and Matt Svanson – RHP;

CATCHERS (3): Iván Herrera, Pedro Pagés and Yohel Pozo;

INFIELDERS (7): Alec Burleson, Jose Fermin, Nolan Gorman, Thomas Saggese, Ramón Urías, JJ Wetherholt and Masyn Winn;

OUTFIELDERS (3): Nathan Church ,Victor Scott II and Jordan Walker;

INJURED LIST (2): Hunter Dobbins – RHP (15-day) and Lars Nootbaar – OF (60-day)
