The Dreadnoughts are trying to start a revolution, and Polka Pit is the soundtrack. Polkas, tarantellas, sea shanties and protest songs are mixed with gut-crunching street punk, and it sounds like the end of the world… and the beginning.

The Dreadnoughts, long hailed as the rowdiest polka-punk outfit on the planet, return with their eighth full-length album, Polka Pit, dropping Friday, September 19 on Punkerton Records.
Following a string of raucous singles including “Tarantella Bang Boom”, “Sierra” and “Polka Pit,” the band’s latest LP is a riotous blend of folk fury, blistering punk, and protest anthems twisted through a cider-soaked lens. “Polka Pit is a tribute to punk rock’s magic and polka’s power,” says vocalist/accordionist Nick Smyth.
To celebrate, The Dreadnoughts will throw an all-out album release show at Skully’s Music Diner in Columbus, OH on September 19, joined by Detroit ska-punk upstarts The Boy Detective. Expect the floor to transform into the ultimate polka pit.
Polka Pit comes in an array of wild vinyl editions for collectors and fans alike, including:
Formed in Vancouver in 2006 and now based in New York, The Dreadnoughts have carved out a global reputation for blending polka, sea shanties, waltzes, and raw street punk into a sound that is as infectious as it is defiant. Their discography—spanning Polka’s Not Dead, Foreign Skies, and Into the North—cements them as one of the most inventive folk-punk bands of the last two decades.
With Polka Pit, The Dreadnoughts invite the world once again into their sweaty, joyous circle—where tradition and rebellion collide in glorious, beer-soaked harmony.
