Listen to “Better Than Money” by Lettuce & Styles P
Fresh off an electric joint performance at Coney Island Amphitheater for Capital One City Parks Foundation’s SummerStage series, GRAMMY-nominated future funk outfit Lettuce and iconic hip-hop lyricist Styles P of The Lox have officially released their highly-anticipated collaborative single, “Better Than Money.” The track is available now on all major streaming platforms (listen HERE) and as a limited 12” vinyl record (HERE).
Melding Lettuce’s airtight, groove-laden instrumentation with Styles P’s incisive bars, “Better Than Money” offers a hard-hitting meditation on the value of creative integrity, staying power, and purpose-driven artistry in a culture often dominated by metrics and commodification.
“It’s the essence of music. It’s soul, it’s hip-hop, it’s funk. It’s something that lasts longer than likes,” Styles P states in the newly released behind-the-scenes footage from the SummerStage performance. “That’s what this track is about. Something better than money.”
Premiered live in front of a packed crowd in Brooklyn, the performance marked a standout moment for both artists rooted at the intersection of live energy and cultural lineage that felt deeply grounded, unforced, and unmistakably New York.
“It’s the real deal. No gimmicks,” adds Lettuce drummer Adam Deitch in the BTS video. “We grew up on groups like The Lox. Styles brought that same honesty and presence into our universe, and it landed. This collaboration isn’t about novelty—it’s about resonance.”The 12” vinyl edition of Better Than Money contains the original, a clean version, instrumental, and a cappella.
This release continues Lettuce’s standout year, which has already included the Lettuce with the Colorado Symphony live album (featuring over 90 minutes of symphonic arrangements performed with the Colorado Symphony), a national co-headlining tour with GZA of Wu-Tang Clan, and a slate of international summer dates at sought-after summer festivals and across Europe, Japan, and Australia. Additionally, Lettuce just announced five new club shows in Michigan, Ohio, Vermont, and New Hampshire rounding out their summer schedule.
Styles P, a stalwart of East Coast hip-hop and advocate for holistic wellness, brings his spirit of intentionality to every facet of this release. As the co-founder of Farmacy for Life and Juice 2 Heal, he continues to advocate for access to health, nutrition, and dignity. “Styles P has one of the most iconic flows in hip-hop, and more importantly, he’s rooted in something real,” Deitch adds. “That’s where our work aligns—not just musically, but philosophically.”
The collaboration also plants a seed for future creative intersections between Lettuce and partners in food and drink including an upcoming wine collaboration with Aquila Cellars out of Paonia, Colorado. The project, lovingly dubbed Lettuce Crush, is a natural extension of the band’s ethos—craft, care, and community.
Expect more on what they’re cooking up soon.

ABOUT LETTUCE:
LETTUCE is (a) the prime ingredient in a salad, (b) a slang for cash, (c) a green herb that can be smoked, (d) a genre-busting six-member musical collective formed in 1992 by four alumni of the prestigious Berklee College Of Music, or (e) all of the above. If you answered “e,” then you’re in on the sheer magic of a band that both feeds the rich history of funk music and combines it with strains of hip-hop, rock, psychedelia, jazz, soul, jam, go-go, and the avant-garde.
The GRAMMY® Award-nominated six-piece is comprised of Adam Deitch [drums, percussion], Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff [guitar], Erick “Jesus” Coomes [bass], Ryan Zoidis [alto, baritone, tenor sax, Korg X-911], Eric “Benny” Bloom [trumpet, horns], and Nigel Hall [vocals, Hammond B-3, Rhodes, clavinet, keyboards].
ABOUT STYLES P:
David Styles, known to the world as Styles P, is a prolific rapper, author, and wellness entrepreneur who has remained a vital voice in hip-hop for over two decades. After rising to prominence with The LOX through timeless collaborations with Bad Boy Records and Ruff Ryders, Styles launched a powerful solo career. His message is simple but powerful: take care of your body, your mind, and your people.Whether it’s through bars, books, or community outreach, Styles P continues to lead by example— making wellness street-certified and accessible.
In an industry that often celebrates the moment, Styles P has stood for the marathon. Heremains a living example of what it means to be both a gangster and a gentleman — a lyricist, a leader, and a legacy builder committed to evolution without compromise.
