Chicago punk rock trio The Mizzerables will release the new single “Sad Face” on October 11.

Front man Joe Mizzi says, “‘Sad Face’ is a deeply personal song about the struggles of addiction and suicidal thoughts. It’s a reflection on the battles faced by myself and by those close to me—especially women in my life who have suffered and been lost to these struggles. It captures the haunting, cyclical nature of feeling trapped in your own design and searching for a way out.

“Too often, we’re unable to express these emotions fully, and it gets reduced to the idea that someone’s just sad and should simply “turn that frown upside down,” when in reality, there’s so much more happening beneath the surface.”

Since 2013, The Mizzerables have been bringing tons of catchy hooks and energy to their music. Influenced by bands like Green Day, Alkaline Trio, and OWTH, they’ve put out three albums and a single.

After discovering he has a cystic fibrosis-related genetic disorder, undergoing surgery, and navigating two years of IVF, Joe and his wife are now expecting their first child. Joe has spent the past few years sorting out his mental and physical health, and these experiences have shaped the songs the band will be releasing over the next several weeks.

As The Mizzerables prepare to release more music and perform at FEST 22 in Gainesville, IL in late October, they hope to bring a positive message to anyone struggling and seeking a light at the end of the tunnel.

Recorded at Third Class Studios in Traverse City, MI Engineered, Mixed and Mastered by Brian Chamberlain, with Additional Vocals by Kevin Sierzega (Teen Idols, P.T.’s Revenge) Artwork by Anderson Mets.

The Mizzerables invite you to join their mizzery.
