FinalBossFight! is a pop punk emo band hailing from Lansing, Michigan. They formed in March 2020, during a global standstill, when Flint locals Sage Denam and John Coote reunited after their days in a high school classic rock cover band. With newfound time on their hands, they began writing songs, blending John’s Green Day-inspired melodies with Sage’s candid, Jeff Rosenstock-style lyrics. Their debut EP, “The Light in Your Room,” dropped in November 2020, followed by the energetic single “House Rules” in 2021.

As live shows were off the table, the band turned to the internet, connecting with a vibrant DIY music community that was adapting the spirit of local basement shows to online platforms. In summer 2021, bassist Billy Cosmo joined, leading to their live debut. Their second show took place in the living room of The Church of Elvis Presley, a Lansing house venue run by members of the band Corduroy Pants, sparking a close friendship and a tight-knit DIY scene.

Alongside fellow bands like Dad Caps, Tournament, Dear Heretic, Tequila Mockingbird, and Clipboards, FinalBossFight! became key players in the thriving Lansing DIY scene. After a year of building a grassroots audience, they celebrated the release of their debut album, “If You Don’t Mind,” at The Church in October 2022. They continued to perform across Michigan, sharing stages with friends and fellow bands like Saturdays at Your Place and The Casper Fight Scene, and opening for notable acts such as Mustard Plug and Charmer. Their festival appearances at PUG Fest, Stoop Fest, and XLNC Fest further solidified their presence.

In 2023, they released their latest LP, “FBF!”, featuring eight tracks packed with energy and emotion that fans continue to sing along to.

Upcoming Show:

  • November 7th Grand Rapids, MI @ The Pyramid Scheme (w/ Equipment, Riley!, and New Age Thief) Tickets

FinalBossFight! is:

  • John Coote: lead vocals, guitar, sometimes drums
  • Sage Denam: drums, sometimes lead vocals
  • Billy Cosmo: bass
