“haunting, ethereal, emotionally wrought dark-pop that is as much of an emotional catharsis for the listener as it is for the artist” – New Noise Magazine
SkyDxddy delivers an unrestrained tale of confronting a toxic relationship in her latest dark-pop anthem “Why Do I Stay” out on February 23. To be released on her Traumacore label with distribution via It Goes Up Entertainment/Compound Interest. Stream it here: https://skydxddy-traumacore.lnk.to/Why_Do_I_Stay
The song opens quietly but soon explodes into a tornado of rage with lyrics calling out the toxicity in a relationship, and taking a stand when enough is enough. When asked what she hopes the listeners take away from the song, SkyDxddy shares, “I hope If anyone takes anything from this song… if you’re in a toxic relationship… if they manipulate, gaslight, or love bomb you, if they make you question your self-worth for even a second… leave”.
With a ‘do no harm, take no shit’ attitude and vulnerable authenticity SkyDxddy courageously shares her life stories in her music. She is a survivor of an assault that changed her life forever. She struggles with mental health issues, for which she was diagnosed as having PTSD, anxiety, and depression and she has found a way to start to heal from her trauma through her music by delivering filter-less anthems of empowerment.
“People ask, “When are you going to write happy stuff?” There’s so much trauma that I’m uncovering in therapy that I feel like it’s always a new topic that people haven’t even uncovered yet. I feel very ready and eager to start bringing awareness to these topics that I know affect so many more people, not just me,” she shared.
As an independent artist her song releases have collectedly garnered over 120 million streams worldwide and counting. Her forthcoming debut album is arriving later this year.
