ELLEN MAY Drops “How It Came To This” Ahead Of March 1 Debut EP

Ellen May’s debut EP ‘A Lonely Way To Go‘ is a 4 song collection of songs themed around the fact that we all die alone, even when surrounded by various relationships. The Aussie duo make heart-aching, pop-punk music and are releasing a new single titled “How It Came To This” – out on 1/19.

“How It Came To This” is a song based on wondering just that. Often we’re left wondering how a relationship with someone becomes such a distant memory. Looking back and hoping the other person still thinks about us, whilst also being happy we’ve all moved on happens even if it’s just a friendship. This song explores the thoughts and feelings of this exact moment when you’re with your own thoughts and reminiscing on life.

Band Bio:

Formed early 2022 in Perth, Western Australia, when Matt Matusik and vocalist Matt Branton connected via a local networking group. Demos and ideas were pinged back and forth, a friendship was made, and a musical bond was forged.

Ellen May was born.

In June 2023, after a year of writing and demoing tracks, Ellen May’s first single, ‘Back To The Start’, hit streaming platforms worldwide and quickly gained plays in the thousands.

A month later, the boys hit Branton’s home studio and began work on their next release. The concept behind this new body of work was dealing with the tumultuous moments of death, including the passing of family members and the death of relationships, and dealing with what inevitably follows those moments.

The first two tracks from this body of work were released as the single ‘Dying To Live’ on October 30th. It features the instant Emo/Pop Punk anthems ‘Home,’ and ‘Where The Heart Lies’. ‘Dying To Live’ was mixed and mastered by John Naclerio from Nada Recording (My Chemical Romance, Brand New, Bayside).

Within two weeks of release, ‘Where The Heart Lies’ hit the 1000 play mark and has received radio play and rave reviews across the world.

Tits Upon Tyne had this to say about ‘Where The Heart Lies’ – Ellen May’s ‘Where The Heart Lies’: a moody emo journey through grief and resilience. Down under’s emotional rock offering strikes a chord with powerful vocals and cathartic sonic peaks.

2024 will see Ellen May release their much anticipated debut EP ‘A Lonely Way To Go’.
