“An infectious bit of sleazy dance pop in line with Beck and Gorillaz, synthesizers and funky bass lines weaving around jangling acoustic guitars and irresistible vocal hooks.”- Tuned Up
Musician Josh Berwanger (The Anniversary, The Only Children) will release ‘Mom, Why is everyones a Hoe?’ the debut album from his genre-blending funk punk project Gemini Parks on September 29.
Berwanger says, “The songwriting focus on this album was to take influences of everything I listen to and blend those styles together to find as many sounds as possible, and then make them my own. If I’m roaming or chilling around the house listening to albums it can go from Rick James, Marijata to Marc Bolan, Sister Sledge and something like “Up All Night” kinda comes out from that. I hope the listener finds the album to play like a musical journey with it’s different styles and sounds.”
Recorded with Oklahoma producer Jarod Evans (Broncho, Flaming Lips) at Blackwatch Studios, Berwanger later added Mitch Hewlit on drums and J-Swamp on bass.
Based in Kansas, Gemini Parks recently began playing shows and after releasing a string of well-received singles, comes the arrival of the 11-track LP on Love You Tons Records.

Sid Sower of Too Much Rock says about Gemini Parks, “…..the band’s sound also exists outside of any set genre or era, instead reshaping its so many influences into something new that is both immediately recognizable and yet askew. Just when I thought I knew the answer, I realized I was wrong. Fans grousing about the lack of touring acts in town should pay more attention to Gemini Parks. Each (of Josh Berwanger’s bands in the past) has been a departure from the last, and each is Berwanger’s idea about what’s next. Not only for him, but often, for the music industry. Sometimes being one step ahead is just bad timing.”
