CARDINALS ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP WITH KTVI FOX 2/KPLR 11

Local TV Stations to Serve as Club’s New Official Weather Forecast Partner; FOX 2 Airing New Episodes of Cardinals Insider & Cardinals Kids Show

ST. LOUIS, Mo., April 19, 2023 – The St. Louis Cardinals have announced a new partnership with local television stations KTVI FOX 2/KPLR 11 The CW that designates the outlets as the team’s Official Weather Forecast Partner and expands the broadcast reach of the four-time Emmy nominated Cardinals Insider program and Cardinals Kids show.

“We are excited to partner with two of the leading TV stations in the St. Louis market to bring more Cardinals programming and content to the traditional over-the-air television audience,” said team Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Dan Farrell. “The organization has a long-time association with both FOX as a national television partner and KLPR as a local television partner, with both outlets having deep local roots and a strong history of promotional partnership with the team.”

As part of the new agreement, KTVI FOX 2 is airing all 28 new episodes of Cardinals Insider, the 30-minute weekly program hosted by Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith, on Sunday evenings after their local news telecast at 10:30 PM. The station will also broadcast each new weekly episode of the Cardinals Kids show starring Fredbird, 2006 World Series Champion and current TV broadcaster Brad Thompson, and John “Professor U-Man” Ulett.

Additionally, as the club’s Official Weather Forecast Partner, the stations will produce a weather forecast that will be shown on the Busch Stadium scoreboard before each game. The stations will also sponsor the club’s annual Weather Day Theme event (April 19, 2023), with KTVI/KPLR meteorologists taking part in an educational pregame interactive program for local school groups at the ballpark.

The stations will also continue their sponsorship of the team’s annual Career Day Theme event (September 8, 2023), which will include KTVI/KPLR reporters and executives participating in a special pregame Q&A and panel discussion with local students regarding careers primarily in sports and media-related fields.

“We are thrilled to team up with the St. Louis Cardinals. St. Louis fans and viewers will see an extension of our meteorologists with in-game forecasts, as well as the fun and educational Weather Day,” said Kurt Krueger, Vice President and General Manager of KTVI/KPLR, Nexstar Media Inc. stations. “We’re also excited to bring the rich local content of the programs, Cardinals Insider, Cardinals Kids, and our Cardinals Zone throughout the season, and we’re proud to continue our support of the Cardinals Career Day at Busch.”
