CARDINALS TRIM SPRING ROSTER TO 37; BOSIOKOVIC, SÁNCHEZ & YEPEZ SENT TO MINORS
JUPITER, Fla., March 31, 2022 – The St. Louis Cardinals announced prior to tonight’s game that they have re-assigned right-handed pitcher Jacob Bosiokovic to the minors and optioned catcher Ali Sanchez and first baseman Juan Yepez to the Memphis (AAA) roster.
Today’s moves reduces the Cardinals Spring Training camp roster to 37 players.

If you would have said a month ago that Yepez would start the season in the minors, people would have called you crazy. Since the team added Corey Dickerson and Albert Pujols, he ended up being squeezed out of a roster spot, even with the expanded rosters to start the season (pitching will probably get them). If Pujols struggles, Yepez will be the first guy up.
Sanchez and Bosiokovic are not surprising; catcher is locked up with Yadier Molina and Andrew Knizner while there are a lot of guys ahead in the pitching depth charts.
