17 PLAYERS DEVELOPED WITHIN THE ORGANIZATION; THREE FIRST-TIME CARDINALS
ST. LOUIS, MO., July 23, 2020 – The St. Louis Cardinals will open their 129th season of play in the National League tomorrow night when they host the Pittsburgh Pirates at 7:15 p.m. CDT in the opening game of the shortened 60-game regular season. The team’s active roster includes three first-time Cardinals (Austin Dean, Kwang Hyun Kim & Kodi Whitley) and 17 players that were developed within the Cardinals organization.
To get to their Opening Day roster, the Cardinals announced the following transactions:
Kodi Whitley selected from Alternate Training Site roster. Austin Dean, Junior Fernandez, Andrew Knizner and Edmundo Sosa recalled from Alternate Training Site roster.
