Cardinals Minor League Report: 03/26/2017-03/27/2017

Sunday saw the team have a camp day, where they played intersquad games (I guess you could say the team was 1-1-2 on the day).

Springfield Cardinals defeats Memphis Redbirds, 3-1

Memphis Hitting

  • Jacob Wilson (SS) – 1 for 2, HR, RBI, K: It’s been kind of interesting watching the fall of Wilson. He was never going to be an MLB star, but he looked like a potential utility player who could be a power option off the bench (aka Jedd Gyorko). Instead, he’s never really put it together and it now appears the Cardinals don’t see him as a future option; if he was in the plans, he’d have gotten an invite to big league camp.

Springfield Pitching

  • #41 Sam Tuivailala – 1.2 IP, 2 BB, 3 K: don’t read into the level he’s playing at, Tuivailala will be with Memphis. The team will throw guys at different levels to allow them to get work; think like the minor league guys who get into the end of MLB Spring Training games.

  • #19 Nick Plummer (OF) – 2 for 3, 2 H: it’s nice seeing Plummer has some success after struggling as a professional. Hopefully this is the year he puts it all together.
